Davenport -- the largest city in the Iowa Quad Cities -- ranks No. 2 in the cost of living category among the 200 largest metropolitan areas on Forbes.com. Part of the cost of living is taken from the price of housing.

 

In 2009, over 1,490 houses were sold in the Iowa Quad Cities. The average sales price of a Scott County, Iowa, home is $160,800. That same year, Iowa Quad Cities had 160 new construction homes sales with 104 houses and 56 condos.
