Preschools
Ample public, private and church-based programs for our littlest pupils provide parents with great close-to home choices. Explore the offerings of Montessori, St. Ambrose University Children’s Campus and other private institutions, or take advantage of our new public preschool classes, offered at no cost to Davenport residents.

Davenport Community Schools
Iowa schools are known for excellence, and Davenport is no exception. The district’s innovative, state-of-the-art programming has earned multiple First in the Nation in Education (FINE) awards, while one elementary school boasts a national Blue Ribbon designation from the U.S. Department of Education. Other awards include Iowa Teacher of the Year, Iowa Principal of the Year, Iowa Administrator of the Year, Iowa Central Office Administrator of the Year and the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Awards. Private Academies
Several private schools – both parochial and nondenominational – offer excellent choice throughout the area. Rivermont Collegiate provides rigorous college-bound curricula for Pre-K through high school grades, while Montessori offers classes through 6th grade, and multiple church-based academies are available for every grade.

College and Beyond

St. Ambrose University
The campus of St. Ambrose University is nestled under tall oaks in the center of Davenport. This private, four-year liberal arts school offers a full range of undergraduate programs, along with advanced degrees in business, education, and some health sciences. Total enrollment is about 4,000.A partner in many community initiatives, St. Ambrose is an important resource for local companies seeking to enhance career opportunities for their employees.

Augustana College
Located in a hilly and wooded enclave in Rock Island, Augustana College attracts students from around the country to its private liberal arts program. Approximately 2,500 students attend the college, which offers over 40 undergraduate majors.

Western Illinois University
The Quad-Cities campus of Western Illinois University (WIU) offers quality public education close to home, while the University of Iowa is just an hour’s drive west on I-80.WIU is planning a new riverfront campus in Moline, which is expected to draw about 3,000 students.

Associates’, Trade and Continuing Education
Extensive course offerings prepare you for a range of careers through Eastern Iowa Community College, Kaplan University, Hamilton Technical College, the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Nursing, Black Hawk College and Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Palmer College of Chiropractic
The oldest and largest chiropractic college in the world, Davenport’s Palmer College features a state-of-the-art outpatient clinic as well as leading-edge clinical learning resources for students, faculty, researchers and alumni. Davenport is where chiropractic began; the college was established in 1897.

Quad-Cities Graduate Studies Center
This association of 12 colleges and universities provides a wealth of advanced degree opportunities to area professionals. It is located on the Augustana College campus in Rock Island.
